Went to a horse auction. Didn't like what I saw. Horses were thin and some were sick. The men at the auction whipped some of the horses. ALL the horses at the auction had overgrown hooves and ALL horses were thin. Some of the horses were bought by people who seemed like they would care for them, but there were a lot of horses that were bought by one person who was likely a KB (kill buyer). Being so close to Mexico, he could easily cross the border and take them to slaughter. Saddle horses sold for about $175 - $800, non-saddle horses sold for about $15 - $275. This man bought only non-saddle horses (he also bought the $275 horse, which was a pregnant mare).
There were also sheep, pigs and goats at the auction. The pens were about 15' by 15'. In one of the pens there were two bucks (male goats) and one ram with some ewes and does. The bucks and ram were fighting over the girls and the ram was very small. One of the bucks was stabbed in the head and was bleeding, while the other buck was fighting the ram. Boys outside of the pen were laughing and hitting the buck that got hurt and pushing him to make him join in the fight. Anyone who has common sense would know not to put more than one buck or ram in with some does or ewes.
We need to put a stop to this inhumane treatment. We cannot let animals suffer.
Horse slaughter plants are starting to open in the US. In New Mexico a meat company (forgot the name) can't wait until they can start slaughtering innocent horses. In just about every state people can't wait to open up slaughter plants. We can't let that happen. Go and tell everyone you know to stop horse slaughter. Spread the word and let people know that the horses of the west can become extinct if we don't do something about it. Let people know that if they can't feed their horse anymore, don't send it to an auction, give it to a Horse Rescue. Let's put an end to horse slaughter!!!!!
